Inga´s Poems from the heart

                      Explore

Explore yourself, there´s a wealth within
frustratingly trying, but failing to win
release all that tension, that´s stopping the flow
allow your true self to be nurtured and grow
take risks, show the world of what "stuff" you are made
and don´t be manipulated and swayed
let go of the obstacles, that prevent
you being the person, that always was meant
stand firm, you're a person one cannot ignore
your world will embrace you and come back for more

               Complacency

The best things in life are free, so they say
and we should be grateful for this
but pause and reflect - do you think it´s O.K.
this state, they call "married bliss?"
what´s happened to romance - those overtures
that once formed a part of the "kill"
seduction, and flowers, those well planned lures
I vaguely remember them still;
beware of the threat , that´s complacency
for nothing in life is really free!

                  Alcohol

Why do we treasure alcohol
when too much of it kills us, as people?
pollutes the bloodstream and makes us dull
and legless and brainless and feeble

         Faces - I once them knew

Do you feel sorry or upset , when people´s faces you forget?
then, have you thought, what children do
the first time they set eyes on you?
they stare and stare, and stare again
embarrassing, but then again;
next time you see a stunning bloke
just stare at him, not to provoke
but so that, when next time you meet
there´s no need to admit defeat;
you´ll find a thrilling new surprise:
the beauty of the human eyes!

               Generosity

How do you teach generosity,
when the built-in traits say: me, me, me
are all children greedy and selfish at heart
is that why the parents must play their part?
all kids search for weaknesses, trying to win
and this is where your skill and cunning comes in
a spoilt child, where upbringing´s gone astray
who screams, kicks and shouts just to get his own way
should offer his parents this little plea:
please take a course in psychology!

                Listen

Why don´t you ever listen?
How often have you had to say
amongst frustration and dismay:
"I´m sorry, love, I didn´t hear,
I must have something in my ear!"
but your´re not deaf, and what is more
you know you´ve heard it all before!
and so this little act goes on
and neither will admit the con;
if this fits you, stand it no more
come clean, and tell him he´s a bore
tell him this meaningless refrain
will send you totally insane;
your frank approach is bound to score
you´l l be like "newly weds" once more

             Smoke-filled room

Passive smoking -- why tolerate it?
I dreamt last night of a smoke-filled room
amongst them, some frightened none-smokers
their minds were alight with concern and gloom
their faces were straight as pokers
if you are a smoker, just spare a thought
for those, who have kicked the habit
and think to yourself -maybe I ought
take my "fags" out there with the rabbit!

I know one "bunch", who´d be grateful with glee:
my unborn grandchild , his parents and me

                         Awakenings

I´ve woken too early, I´m lying in bed
such wonderful thoughts going round in my head
I feel loved, I feel wanted, and needed too
has that miracle ever happened to you?
it may not be easy, but next time you cry
upset, hurt and cheated, I want you to try
to push all those negative thoughts from your head
and let in the beautiful sunshine instead
it´s very infectious, and soon you will find
most people are friendly and helpful and kind
and if, with sheer pleasure, you burst into song
you´ll wonder why-ever it took you so long

                 Naughty but nice

If I were a child, I´d be naughty tonight
I feel the adrenalin rising
just think of your very own children´s plight,
in fact, it isn´t surprising;

we all have a child within us, you see
some of us, more than others
it isn´t always he wants to be
as good as his sisters and brothers

we all need buffers and challenges too
a child isn´t naughty to spite you
he wants independence, can cope without you
and so he endeavours to fight you

his instinct says: test and explore and have fun
and don´t you agree with him really?
his little battles have just begun
you can see the patterns quite clearly;

so let him explore and experiment,
he hasn´t committed a bad crime
your child will reward you with merriment
your nerves will recover in no time!
